Math in PBL

While I am inspired by what I saw at HTH, I was also a little disappointed. I hear "when am I going to use this?" on a many occasions.in my classes. Project-based learning could give that answer so much better than anything I said. But HTH appeared to teach math in a less collaborative manner than other subjects. This seemed to be in response to concerning test results. The tests were measuring a traditional curriculum. A curriculmn that focused on proof and probability and statistics could be used to reinforce and support a wide variety of projects and provide rigorous math too. Changing the focus would meaning sacrificing the appearance of quality.
